An Adventure to “Nowhere!”

The other night my son-in-law Scott, my almost-three year old granddaughter Ryan and I met at a park. For those of you who live in South Jersey, it was Cooper River Park. I always thought it might be nice to walk around there. In fact, it was pretty funny trying to find each other! The park is really big.

It was a bit of an adventure. I never really explored it with Ryan in mind. I thought we’d wander around, watch the boats, maybe find some ducks. And, we DID! But, even more they had a glorious playground … really fun to explore, with bridges and stepping stones, so many slides and rings to hang from me. Scott brought me dinner so at one point I had a picnic while they continued to play. Then we wandered some more and found a lovely path with a large secluded patio area and that was our stage! We did what Ryan asked … we sang and danced. On the playground, we climbed and crossed bridges and slid down the sliding board.

It was truly an adventure. You try it. Tell your child let’s go “nowhere!” We’ll go on an adventure and see where it takes us! Get in the car and just go. Maybe you’ll find a lovely park or playground, too! Maybe you’ll find a new shopping area and find a card shop and pick one out with princesses or Elmo or Toy Story 3 on it. You can buy a card for no reason … just because you like it or to surprise someone with an extra “I love you!” … Who knows what you’ll come up! Visit a post office, too — send that card. So mundane but for a young child a new adventure!

If you’re reading this when I’m writing it, have a wonderful July 4th weekend filled with adventures, maybe some to “nowhere!”
