Mr. Paul Smith Directs the Tune Up Philly – Orchestral Pathways Program of the PYO Music Institute. Now in its 11th Season, Tune Up provides intensive after-school musical instruction that creates powerful, youth-led large ensembles. Tune Up has successfully matriculated students not only into great High Schools, but into every audition-based ensemble in Philly, helping to ensure that students who are in most need of the benefits of music are able to do so. His latest project features the creation of a new home for plucked string instruments called the Pizzicato Players, dedicated to their sound world and to promoting these auxiliary instruments. Dr. Rhonda Clements is a Professor and Teacher Trainer within the School of Education at Manhattanville College in Purchase York, where she has authored or co-authored 11 books in movement, play, and game activities for children. She has also written more than 50 articles and 10 book chapters concerning the need for play and physical activity for preschool and elementary school-age children. She has presented at 70 international or national conferences, over 40 state conferences, and numerous local conferences and workshops. Dr. Clements was one of eight national experts to contribute to the document entitled, Active Start: A Statement of Physical Activity Guidelines for Birth to Five Years, and she is the past President of The American Association for the Child’s Right to Play. She is currently on the advisory board for the American Journal of Play.

Pauline Houston McCall is a multimedia artist, vocalist and activist who believes deeply in connecting the threads between many disciplines. Her large paintings and sculptures and intimate drawings have graced exhibitions throughout the country. Pauline is also the lead vocalist, co-songwriter and co-creator of Soul music endeavor MOKA. MOKA has graced many stages and has enjoyed massively positive reviews in many publications across the globe for its innovation, style and originality.

Robb McCall  is a songwriter, performer, bandleader, arranger and producer for numerous music projects. A multi-instrumentalist who studied international music at the New England Conservatory, Robb has a vast knowledge of different styles of music which he uses to engage, educate and entertain audiences of all ages. He enjoys teaching young children and does that regularly at Children’s Playhouse in Philadelphia and elsewhere. Robb is a composer and producer of original music as well as an arranger of songs from virtually every genre.  Robb teaches guitar, bass, percussion, drum set, chorus, songwriting and recording/engineering and performs regularly.

Mollie Elkman is joining Sharla Feldscher on KIDFUN AND MORE. Mollie is the owner and president of Group Two, a full-service marketing partner for home builders based in Philadelphia.  She is the author of the new children’s book, The House That She Built. Mollie is passionate about proactively sharing the successes of those in housing in order to diversify the industry and elevate careers in construction.

Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek joins Sharla Feldscher for KIDFUN AND MORE. Dr Kathy is the Lefkowitz Faculty Fellow in Psychology at Temple University and a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Her research examines the development of early language and literacy, the role of play in learning and learning and technology. She is the author of 14 books and hundreds of publications, has won numerous awards in her field and was inducted into the National Academy of Education. Vested in translating science for lay and professional audiences, her Becoming Brilliant, released in 2016 was on the NYTimes Best Seller List in Education.

On this podcast Elaine Sugar shares her journey as an Educator, Coordinatorm and Specialist in teaching kids affirmations and also money management, and as a presenter of programs on positive thinking for youth.

This KIDFUN AND MORE Podcast will focus on Innovative Education with Dr. Jason Corosanite is the Co-founder of String Theory Schools, a Philadelphia based education design/management corporation. He holds an Educational Leadership Degree in Charter School Leadership from Central Michigan University and has been honored as an Apple Distinguished Educator. Dr. Corosanite speaks nationally on the integration of educational technology and is the founder of a Particle, a new type of collaboration space designed to support entrepreneurial initiatives through invention, entrepreneurship, and storytelling.

Sharla’s first guest on her KIDFUN AND MORE Podcast is Andrea Green, multi-award winning composer/playwright of musicals for children and families. The documentary about Andrea’s work, On the Other Side of the Fence, by producer Henry Nevison, won a mid-Atlantic Emmy Award, a United Nations Public Affairs Award and many others. Her works are performed worldwide by children’s theater organizations including the Stephen Sondheim Center. Andrea will share the story of her career and the importance on delivering positive inclusive messages through music and performance.
