Tell Me More ….
Try this little activity if you’re waiting where you can easily write something. In fact, keep a small pad of paper and pen handy in the car, in your pocketbook — even a jacket pocket, because ya’ never know when an odd moment will occur and you’ll be glad you had it.
“Tell me more” is a drawing activity. You start. Draw a picture of a birthday cake, as an example. Then ask your child a question. Who’s birthday is it? If he says, his neighbor’s. Add candles to it to determine the age of the neighbor. Then, have your child draw the neighbor … or the presents … or ice cream and candy he’ll eat at the party. Start with one thing and just keep adding. When you’ve exhausted this story, start over. Your child can start this time by drawing one item — like a tree or a swimming pool or the man with the glasses sitting nearby! That tree may eventually have a bunch of monkeys on top like the story “Caps for Sale.”
Hopefully, “Tell me More” would have filled some of that time while waiting and you’ll be well on your way before you know it! Well on your way, I should say, with a few giggles and laughter to add to your KIDFUN memories!
