Sing, Sing, Sing

Do you like to sing? Even if it’s in the shower, when no one is listening?

Well, here’s an idea for an audience! A baby … a young child, who will only relish the attention and not consider judging your talent.

I love to sing. I love show tunes, too, and when my kids were babies, even in the hospital, I’d cradle them in my arms and sing songs from the show “Oliver.” Well, who woulda’ thought I’d do the same thing with a grandchild! (How COULD I be this old???) My favorite song from this show is “I’d Do Anything!” It’s just so sweet, I love the message and the melody.

And, did I get a great Mother’s Day present from Ryan yesterday!! As I’ve mentioned (sorry — am I talking about her too much??), my granddaughter is 2 1/2. Yesterday, at the end of our Mother’s Day adventure, I started singing “I’d Do Anything” and guess what? I began with “I’d do ….” And, she shocked me and sang, “Anything!” What a smile that brought to my face! Then, I continued … “for you, dear, anything.” And on the “you”, she pointed her finger right to me and sang along. Be still my heart!

Well, that led to us putting on a show for her grandfather and parents and me being so thrilled that she actually heard me, listened to me and learned from me when since she was a tiny infant.

Sing-a-long … with me, with the kids and make it KIDFUN!

Have a great day!

I love your blog on singing. I have 2 small children of my own and we always sing together. Singing has been a part of my soul since I was a little girl. Now it’s mandatory my family sings as much as possible. Now, Lady GaGa is a hit in our house, so we crank up the radio and dance and sing in the living room. Thanks. 🙂
