Remember Their … Sketchpad!

You just never know when it will come in handy? What’s “it,” you ask? … A sketch pad! It would be cool if you actually bought one at an art supply store, but a spiral notebook will do just as well.

It seems like everyday lately I’m referring to my grandniece Molly, 5, and her mom Erika, but yesterday we saw each other again and we, and lots of our female relatives, had a lovely lunch and trip to see the Renoir exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. (Speaking of sketching!) … And, when I came into the Water Works Restaurant to meet everyone, surprised to see Molly, she was sitting at the table looking out at the river sketching the waterfall, the boathouses, the clouds and then the Zoo balloon. (If you were there, you’d understand how breathtaking this setting is. If Renoir were there, HE’D paint it!)

With a package of colored pencils and her “sketch pad”, Molly was busy being productive and creative and totally relaxed in this wonderful setting. I think I’ll get one for Ryan and keep it handy in my car — okay, we might need to wait until she’s a little bit older than three!

If you live near Philadelphia, I recommend enjoying this exhibit and lunch like all of us!
