KIDFUN Cookies

Okay … baking cookies isn’t so unusual, especially at this time of year, but to make it extra fun, make the last step of baking, a Cookie Topping Bar. You know, like a salad bar or an ice cream sundae bar!

Talk with the kids about the varieties of toppings you could add to a sugar cookie, for example. We all know multi-colored sprinkles or chocolate jimmies would be great, but what about M & M’s, mini-chocolate chips or mini-nonpareils. How ’bout crunching up a hard candy bar or using a wood mallet to bang candy canes into crunchy pieces? Do that in a wooden bowl to avoid pieces flying all over the kitchen!

What other crazy cookie toppings could your child create? Maybe make an indention in the top of the cookie by pushing down her thumb in the dough and that could be just the right size for a maraschino cherry or a little dab of peanut butter.

“Almost” anything goes when making KIDFUN Cookies! Have a cookie party, too, where everyone brings a different homemade cookie like my cousin Jessica does every year! Forget healthy eating for this party, that’s for sure. (Forget diets, too!)
