Face Painting Stand

If older kids are looking for a way to entertain younger kids, they could set up a face painting stand and fill some hours with fun. You know the little ones will get such a kick out of it!

Last night my niece Molly, 5, and granddaughter Ryan, 3, had so much fun when we went to Silver Diner in Cherry Hill, NJ for Kids Night. Bailey, who is 8, wasn’t into getting her face painted like they were. And, you shoulda’ seen Molly? Her entire face was covered as she was transformed into an adorable little dog. She happened to sit across from a mirror and her expressions were priceless as she wriggled her nose, tossed her head from side to side and really got into this new personality! Ryan had a simple little horse painted on her arm until she witnessed Molly’s transformation so she wanted to be a dog, too.

What made me think of the Face Painting Stand is that I bet Bailey, 8, could have sat side by side with the face painter and had just as much fun painting a little flower on a cheek or a bunch of stars on an arm. Bailey’s probably old enough that she could do some simple face painting herself.

All you need for supplies is a box of water color with a couple cups filled with water, small paint brushes, a box of tissues and a small table mirror. It might be helpful to have a jar of vaseline or cold cream nearby to remove this work of art, just in case the “customer” changes her mind and needs a quick clean up!

I can just imagine how Bailey could face paint Molly when these sisters are home one day! Hm … perhaps,  a little something on Molly’s cheek, arm, leg … even foot!

OR, Bailey could set up a Face Painting Stand and make it a fundraising project. Instead of selling lemonade on the corner, she could face paint other kids for a $1 and help out a needy charity.
