Apples and Honey and ….

For some of us, it’s the Jewish New Year and it’s time to enjoy that delicious tradition of dipping pieces of apple into honey. And, well, it just made me remember how yummy honey is. And, then I thought about other little tricks that make healthy food a little more fun. I really don’t think my granddaughter has tasted honey yet and I bet dipping other fruits into that just might make fruit-eating a little more enjoyable.

What healthy eating tricks do you use? I remember the first time my mother served something to eat with toothpicks. Wow! That was so cool! It didn’t really matter what I was poking. It could have even been healthy and I’d eat it! How about buying those fancy little toothpicks with the curls on top or bright-colored plastic ones? I know the kids have to be supervised, but it could be fun at one meal when eating string beans or peas is not really their plan … unless they are too busy spearing them with toothpicks to realize they are actually eating healthy food.

Do you have eating tips you can share with our KIDFUN readers? Here’s another memory — burying peas in mashed potatoes. I really didn’t like peas but somehow the game of finding them in that mound of potatoes made it more fun eating them!
