Look up … It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane — It’s “Facey!

Flashlights are great toys for kids! There’s so much to do with them that just fascinates young children — actually, adults, too!

Try this — cut out a face from a paper plate. Two circle eyes, a circle nose and a crescent shape mouth. Take it into a dark room — like a bathroom, the laundry room, a bedroom — even a large closet. Hold the paper plate above the flashlight, keeping a distance, like one foot, between the plate and the flashlight and look up in the ceiling! There’s your face, smiling right at you! It’s definitely cool — ghost-like! (Darn, I should have suggested it for ghost stories on Halloween.)

We named this mysterious character “Facey” but have your young child make up his own name — in fact, make up a whole story about Facey and his friends! Perfect, for bedtime when all lights are out!
