Be a Choreographer!
I wonder at what age kids start dancing … twirling around the room … doing little tap dances! Once they put those steps together, without even thinking about it, they are choreographers! So, why not teach them this big word and really think about their moves?!
The other day, Ryan and I were outside on a path and she said (as always), “Watch this!” and she started twirling around and dancing. I said, “Teach me! Be a choreographer and direct me what to do!” That was really fun — she was on one end, I was at the other. We met in the middle, did a little arm and arm twirling and went back to our corners of the path. But, I realized calling her a choreographer made it feel so grown up and she took it very seriously. Use professional terms with your kids and they’ll just absorb them and think of themselves this way …. Then when we go see our next show, we can talk about the choreography and she’ll really “get it!” … On to happy twirling!
