An Art Gallery Made of Cork
It’s turned out that grandparents are such a great resource to KIDFUN. After all, it’s their JOB to have fun with their grandchildren!
I was talking to “Mammom” Carol who shared such an easy idea. She has a wall in her house, in a bedroom, that is covered with cork and over the years that wall has become her granddaughter’s Art Gallery. Ever since Noel was a little girl her drawings and other artwork would be displayed there. Well, recently Noel gave them a card and the envelope was designed by her. She said, “Let’s put it on my wall!” Noel has become such a talented artist. None of this seems unusual but Noel is now 13 and Carol was so touched that, apparently, this wall is as important to Noel as it is to her.
It’s really so easy to do the same thing. You can buy those squares of cork with an adhesive back and make it “The Family Art Gallery.” This wall can be a prominent one in the kitchen or a less prominent one in a hallway, the laundry room, a stairway, the basement. How nice for Noel to look at the wall year after year and observe her growth from year to year. Imagine if each year she made a self-portrait!
