A Doggie Birthday

I was having lunch yesterday with someone I hadn’t seen for awhile. A great guy … who truly has made his dreams come true! It’s Steve Levy, who Philadelphians know for his many years on TV news.

I said, “You’re doing what?” He said, “We’re having a Doggie Birthday Party for Gabby!” “Okay, Steve, how do you do THAT?” I asked. “It’s easy,” he continued, “Pinkie is making doggie cupcakes for Gabby and she may even dip dog biscuits into carob, chocolate that is fine for dogs to eat.”

Then I imagined how much fun that would be for the kids. They could all wear birthday hats and make decorations. They could display photos of the dog. They could invite their friends or even their neighbors who probably know the dog even better from their neighborhood walks.

I loved the idea and asked Steve if I could use it on KIDFUN and he gave me a warm-hearted grin! “Sure!”

Thanks, Steve and …. Happy Birthday, Gabby. Ruff, Ruff!

My family is doing this for our dog, too! Next month we’re doing a “Sweet Sixteen” for Murphy with our friends and family. We unfortunately can’t do all the fun dog treats because of his health issues, but we will be able to do something with baby food and rice (his favorite!). All the ideas about party hats and decorations are great — we will definitely be doing that, too!
