The Tray Game – Great for Family Fun

In the next few KIDFUN blogs, I’ll suggest activities that are fun for all ages and great for family gatherings … getting you ready for the holiday season with more time to spend together. The Tray Game is a memory game. One person places assorted objects on a tray for all to see and memorize and then he leaves the room, removes one object, returns and asks, “What was on the tray?”

Here’s an example, you can help your young child and scour around for stuff — bright colored objects are easier to remember. So, let’s say a red crayon, a blue button, a yellow feather, etc., etc. You can start with five objects and work up to 10 or more. When the tray is presented to the whole group, the leader holds up an object and asks everyone to say what it is. He walks away, removes one object and returns to the group seeing who can guess what’s missing from the tray.

It sounds pretty easy, right? You’ll find out how complicated it can get. The real goal is to share good times together … be silly, but never judgmental, and have fun!
