I saw the BEST idea when I visited someone’s apartment last night. Actually, JoAnn Chadwick is her name and she is a whiz at organizing — a whiz with a great idea for kids, too! With a bit of a giggle she showed me her closet and laughed about her shoe system. Each pair of shoes is in its own plastic storage box and on the front is a photocopied photo of the shoe inside! Brilliant, isn’t it?

Imagine organizing toys with kids this way? Just take a picture with your camera (or phone) — even have them take the photo when they are old enough — transfer it to your computer, print it out in color and then cut it out and paste to the front of a carton or container. It would be great fun for the kids to be part of creating the system because they’ll take more pride in putting their blocks where they belong, for example, their musical instruments, dress up clothes, trucks, etc., etc. Brilliant!!!
