Hello? — Try it Like Jane!
For as long as I can remember when calling my friend Jane, she’d trick me! Not just me … lots of people. Even our friend Dahlia agreed when we talked about it last night.
When I call Jane and she doesn’t answer, her voicemail would sound alive. It would say, “Hello?” as if there were a question mark after it like she was really on the phone. She’d leave a slight pause after it as if she were waiting for your response. So, I’d answer her … every time. “Hi Jane!” Then, I realized I was tricked!! She continues to be clever and has a rhyme for her voice mail message. It’s something like, “I’m sorry I’m not home. Please leave your message at the tone!” Darn — she tricked me again!
I realized last night. This could be a KIDFUN activity. See how clever (while being polite) your child can be leaving a voicemail message on your phone … or if she’s old enough to have one … on her own. Of course, today with texting, phones don’t ring (or vibrate) quite as often. In fact, Jane said now she and her granddaughter, Bari, text each other! Communication … it’s constantly changing EXCEPT for Jane’s voicemail! I bet if I call her today, she’ll trick me again!
