Finger Puppets Are Great Distractions!
Remember Finger Puppets? You could create little puppets simply by using water-based markers on your thumb and fingers. Imagine you child is feeling anxious waiting at a doctor’s office and all of a sudden your thumb becomes a puppet and starts prancing around telling a story! What a great distraction! Just draw two dots as eyes, a dot as a nose and a smiley face and your thumb is immediately transformed into a character. Try it on your child’s thumb, too — or other fingers — and, before you know it, the doctor will arrive, your appointment will be over and you’ll have filled time in a most constructive way. Be sure to have wipes handy so this finger puppet can disappear as easily as he arrived … until another day, of course!
