How do you name a new pet? Even a new stuffed animal? …. That’s basically what today’s KIDFUN is about because my niece Erika, her husband Seth and the kids Bailey and Molly got the most adorable new dog. Perhaps, by today, they all picked a name but I was thinking of a KIDFUN way to select a special name for a family.

This family is blessed to share many special experiences and go on trips. They’ve gone to so many cool places and wouldn’t it be nice to remember a great, happy family time by naming a pet after it. Maybe their dog could be called “Brit” for their trip to England. Maybe it could be Alps for a trip to Switzerland. I know I’m simplifying this, but I hope you get the point. Then when someone would ask. What’s your dog’s name? The answer would be, “It’s Brit, because my family took a great trip to Great Britain.” The pet would be an ongoing memory of family fun! (Of course, new pets are not common occurrences … so maybe a new stuffed animal, maybe a … tree on your lawn? How silly is THAT?)
