Ticking Away on the Timer

Do you have a manual kitchen timer? I love that loud ticking sound it makes as the time is passing by. It’s a great prop for a game — for any activity for that matter. Think about it, you have a little race with your young child. Set the timer! Read, Get Set, Go! Did he reach the end of the race before the timer went off?

How about one of my favorites … balancing a paper plate on your head without holding it with your hands. Everyone does it at the same time, walking around a room or outside in the yard or on the sidewalk in front of the house. But, the real fun is doing it while the timer is ticking! Who can do it the longest?

It’s not about the competition. It’s about the extra motivation and about focusing on the activity while that timer is ticking away. And, if you don’t have a manual kitchen timer. Buy one for the kids! Keep it with your stash of stuff — KIDFUN stuff to brighten any dull moment!
