The Gift of Giving

How can you give your child the gift of “giving” this holiday season? Try this. First talk to your child about how lucky he is and mention that many children are not as fortunate. What could he do to help them? Suggest he give away some of his toys he rarely uses. Provide a nicely decorated gift box for him to select a few practically new toys to fill in that box. Then go together to a nearby hospital or shelter. Seek out a place where there are children who would smile at the idea of new toys and deliver them together. Take pictures of your child filling his gift box, carrying the gift box, even delivering the box to a hospital. Those photos will be some of the most meaningful in his life as he, hopefully, continues the tradition of “giving!”
