Strike Up the Band

I remember — when I was a teenager — we had a family band. It was really fun and anyone could do it. The bottom of a pot was the drum, two pot lids were symbols, two long wooden spoons were drumsticks and we made “music!” We really had fun — my brother, mother, father and I. Of course, we were lucky because, if I remember right, my mother was at the piano so we started with the real thing!

The other day Ryan, Scott (her dad) and I had a band and we marched around the living room. Ryan was the bandleader and gave out the instruments. Hers were “real”, well, toy musical instruments that she got from her Aunt Hope and Uncle Joe for a present. Jingle bells, a flute, the drums and more. Scott played music on a CD, Ryan had us line up and we marched! She danced, we sang … we all had a ball making music together, just like I did with my family when I was much, much younger!
