May I Have Your Order, Please?

Larry Rubin was telling me how his granddaughters Emily, 7, and Danielle, 5, love to play waitress. The girls are very busy taking orders, “cooking” in their imaginary kitchen and using real plates (carefully), then serving. The other day Larry ordered a hamburger and French fries and, of course, it was “delicious!” Larry, by the way usually known as Pop Pop, has a new name, according to his girls, “Sweet Sugar Pops!” (I think they got it right, Lar!)

The kids did bake in the kitchen with their grandmother. They made a huge brownie – a brownie cake – iced it and decorated it as a Welcome Home treat for their parents. I bet the waitresses took lots of orders for this!

Here’s a KIDFUN tip … buy real order pads at an office supply store, the kind servers use at diners and other restaurants. Then when the kids write their orders (whether they can really write or not), they can use these official order slips and feel much more authentic!
