Face Painting Kit — Another KIDFUN Gift!

You know, face painting is just plain fun and another affordable gift idea.

Here’s what you need: a plastic shoe box or another container for storage, non-allergenic cosmetics like blush, powder (a compact is perfect), eye shadow in various colors and lipstick. Perhaps, you can find an inexpensive lipstick brush and eyebrow pencils. Get a small stand up mirror and a jar of Vaseline or cold cream for quick clean ups and put that in the make up kit, I mean face painting kit, along with some tissues and that’s it! You’re done …. See what I mean, hours of fun!

And, by the way older children might like to set up face painting stands and make some extra money to replenish their kit or to collect donations for a local charity. The gift that keeps on giving, as they say!

Sharla Feldscher has always been a "kid-believer!" She's written six books on creative activities to enjoy with young children and has written for magazines, newspapers, broadcast media and now has this blog with one easy-to-do KIDFUN tip each blog. She is also the owner of a public relations business in Philadelphia.

  • To be fair to our readers, I wanted to share this comment from Lynn of http://www.celebrategreen.com. She did tell me that she loves making kits for kids but she gave some precautions about make up kits. See below. Thank you for providing this information to KIDFUN, Lynn.

Sharla, this is a great idea, but I would caution parents to be careful with giving any cosmetics to children. Even those that are non-allergenic can contain things like lead which is not good for children in any amounts. I’d suggest before doing this that parents google the Campaign for Save Cosmetics and take into consideration the ratings of these before adding them into a kit. Also, we have on the Celebrate Green blog, info on making your own face paints which are completely safe. One more thing, Vaseline is made from petroleum (hence the name “petroleum” jelly). There are so many better alternatives including one called UNPETROLEUM jelly 🙂
