Is school over for the kids? What are your plans? What are their plans? Think back on your years as a young person with the summer looming ahead. Wouldn’t it be fun to make a Wish List of what you’d love to do?  Try it with the kids, but encourage them to be realistic. Well, if they have exotic trips in mind, pull out that imaginary magic carpet (a bath mat) so their wishes can be fulfilled — with a little humor, of course!

List wishes with them that could be as simple as going out for ice cream, go to the beach, the lake, the park, the Zoo … whatever is fairly close. But throw in a few suggestions of those things you “always wanted to do with the kids” but never had the time. Make the time — one weekend day if you work or even take off a few days without a real vacation destination in mind. Wishes can be filled very close to home, too.
