#2 — National Family Literacy Day … Oops!

Hi all … I just dedicated today, November 1, to the Shusterman Family for National Family Day, not realizing it’s National Family “Literacy” Day! … Phew, they win THAT recognition, too, because the KIDFUN tips they suggested from their family trip (around the world) are all valued literacy skills. Traveling around the world, in itself, certainly builds someone’s potential for writing and exploring through language skills but the three activities I included in KIDFUN all use language skills, even the card games!

A second congratulations to the Shustermans! And, your families, too — I would bet building literacy skills is a part of your daily lives as well. (Even reading the names of all the candy bars they collected
yesterday on Halloween!)

Sharla Feldscher has always been a "kid-believer!" She's written six books on creative activities to enjoy with young children and has written for magazines, newspapers, broadcast media and now has this blog with one easy-to-do KIDFUN tip each blog. She is also the owner of a public relations business in Philadelphia.

  • Sharla, thank you for all your accolades, it was quite unexpected. I just wanted to let people know that we are an ordinary family who chose to do an extraordinary thing. One of my motivations to write the book was to let people know just that – you can make your dreams come true. All you need is the dream and the determination to make it happen.
